"She wasn't much good a saying goodbye"
THAT GIRL COULD SING -Jackson Browne
A boy I loved when I was sixteen dedicated that song to me...he knew I wasn't good at goodbyes.
Some of the most painful memories in my life were when I had to say goodbye. So, I didn't...I just walked away. Maybe I think...that no matter how much time passes, if you don't say goodbye the hellos would be easier. They aren't. Deep down you realize there may never be a hello. I have left friends, family, jobs and people I loved without saying Goodbye. Goodbye just hurt too much. After all these years, I wish I could go back and tell these people I loved them and I was sorry for not saying goodbye. For some of my friends, it's too late...they left me without saying goodbye.
"See you soon's" are easy...your parents visit, you kiss them walk them to their car and wave...saying "see you soon!" Hoping that you will.
So, if the time comes...and I can't say goodbye...please know, I was thinking it.

How Can I Help You To Say Goodbye?
(Burton Banks Collins/Karen Good Taylor)
As sung by Patty Loveless
Through the back window of a '59 wagon
I watched my best friend Jamie slippin' further away
I kept on waving 'till I couldn't see her
And through my tears, I asked again why we couldn't stay
Mama whispered softly, Time will ease your pain
Life's about changing, nothing ever stays the same
And she said, How can I help you to say goodbye?
It's OK to hurt, and it's OK to cry
Come, let me hold you and I will try
How can I help you to say goodbye?
I sat on our bed, he packed his suitcase
I held a picture of our wedding day
His hands were trembling, we both were crying
He kissed me gently and then he quickly walked away
I called up Mama, she said, Time will ease your pain
Life's about changing, nothing ever stays the same
And she said, How can I help you to say goodbye?
It's OK to hurt, and it's OK to cry
Come, let me hold you and I will try
How can I help you to say goodbye?
Sitting with Mama alone in her bedroom
She opened her eyes, and then squeezed my hand
She said, I have to go now, my time here is over
And with her final word, she tried to help me understand
Mama whispered softly, Time will ease your pain
Life's about changing, nothing ever stays the same
And she said, How can I help you to say goodbye?
It's OK to hurt, and it's OK to cry
Come, let me hold you and I will try
How can I help you to say goodbye?

dr. asefi is an artist who, at great personal risk, had disguised the figures of human beings in 80 oil paintings at the gallery by applying a veneer of watercolor paint over them.
he had thus saved the pictures from destruction at the hands of the taliban, who had forbidden representations of the human form as sacrilege.
Wow! Cello...what an interesting article! Shows us that all it takes is one person to shed an old belief system for others to follow.
That's Amazing!
Time Magazine was there when Raymond Franz shed his Burka. Although, I'm sure he didn't look as good as Zamzama. lol

i'm not sure where we draw the line at fluff?
is it humor, sex, happy posts, personal experiences, life lessons?
who determines which post (or poster) falls into what category?
I came here because of the fluff-TimB
...and we are OH SO GLAD you did Tim!
I was more of a community and made me feel normal again. I don't think it's healthy to dwell on the hateful things the Borg does, too much. We need to talk to each other about the changes we go through every day. Those changes aren't always about whether we believe the Bible or not. Sometimes those changes are how we feel about what color our kids snot or whether Brittany's boobs are real or not.
There are many things that I wasn't able to discuss freely for 36 yrs. To me, the fluffers are the most important posters. Someday I hope to be as caring, loving, entertaining and healing as the fluffers on this board.
Yes, it does make you feel like you are normal when you can belong to a community after what we all have been through. It's a normal part of recovery to get beyond the hurt and began to actually heal. When we can laugh at ourselves and at the WT...we know we're on our way. I'm not sure If I wanna discuss the color of your kid's snot...but, I'll take Britney's boobs anytime. LOL Ahhhh....It feels good to discuss things freely.
